Many of us don’t take proper care of our hands and feet. Dirt and grime builds up under our nails so they need to be cleaned and trimmed regularly. Those who have suffered from ingrown toenails know that there are few things more painful. Here are four good reasons to have a regular mani-pedi.
1. Your hands and feet are constantly growing new skin cells. In fact, the skin around your nails grows faster than most other parts of your body. Manicures and pedicuresexfoliate the skin around the nails, rejuvenating the skin and making it smooth and healthy.
2. Few people are aware that manicures and pedicures increase blood flow to the fingers and toes. The increased blood flow to your extremities helps with circulation and nourishes the skin and nails.
3. Good for your confidence. If you notice yourself flaunting your freshly pampered toes in a pair of strappy sandals or talking with your hands a bit more than usual, it’s just your brain saying “here I am and don’t I look fabulous?!” So, showyour nails some love because it’s good for your mind too!
4. Manicures and Pedicures protect you from disease. Feet and toes become moist from synthetic shoes, socks, andperspiration. This puts you at risk for infections and fungus. Worse, because we often don’t look closely at our feet, the infection might not be noticeable until it is too far gone.Diabetics are especially at risk for infections of the feet and toes and must keep up the health of their feet on a regular basis.
Give your fingers and toes the TLC they deserve!
